Meet the very handsome and utterly adorable Hannibal, though unlike his namesake, this boy’s only guilty pleasure is gobbling up cuddles, not people!
From the moment you meet him, it’s clear that Hannibal is one of the most loving and kind-hearted hounds you could ever hope to meet. With his soft eyes, gentle ways, and heart of gold, he melts everyone he meets faster than you can say “what’s for dinner?”.
He gives the very best snuggles and carries himself with a wonderfully calm, kind nature that makes you feel instantly at ease.
Hannibal is a happy-go-lucky, easy-going, and sensitive soul with the sweetest personality, always looking out for his humans and his greyhound friends. He has that rare kind of warmth that draws people in like a quiet whisper, before you know it, you’re caught in his charm and completely smitten.
Incredibly social and friendly, he has a way of winning hearts without even trying, and he truly is something special. Everyone here at the kennels completely adores him.
With his calm patience and spotless manners, Hannibal is the very picture of good behaviour. He waits politely for his turn, keeps his kennel tidy, and is such a joy to care for. We do not doubt that his lovely, well-mannered ways will continue effortlessly into his forever home.
Though he has the wisdom of an old soul, Hannibal also has a fun, puppy-like sparkle that never fails to make us smile. He loves his toys, enjoys a gentle game, and every now and then, his cheeky side peeks through just enough to make you laugh and remind you that this boy has layers (but definitely not the sinister kind).
When Hannibal first came to us, he was a little quiet, almost like he was trying to blend into the background, perhaps still in “stealth mode”. But once he realised he was safe and loved in our hands, his true personality began to bloom, and what a joy it has been to watch him come out of his shell.
It takes Hannibal a little longer to form deep bonds, but when he does, they are truly special. His love is the kind you have to earn, but once you have it, it’s unbreakable. He’s the kind of hound whose loyalty will stay with you for life and trust me, you’ll never want to let him go.
Hannibal is also incredibly in tune with the emotions of those around him. He always seems to know when someone needs a bit of comfort, often pressing himself close or gently leaning in as if to say, “I’m here for you.”
On tough days, his quiet presence brings a calm that feels like magic. He has a heart as big as his love for food, and although his name might suggest otherwise, this Hannibal is far more likely to nibble on your heart than your dinner.
This boy is as gentle as they come. He’s soft, calm, and happy to go with the flow, taking every day as it comes. His kind, calming energy makes everyone around him feel safe and loved, and we often find ourselves completely wrapped around his paw without even realising it.
He may be small in size for a boy, standing no taller than some of our girls, but his heart and spirit are mighty. He’s a perfect example that the best things really do come in smaller packages.
Hannibal truly embodies all the best traits of a classic male greyhound. He’s affectionate, laid-back, endlessly kind, and quietly charming. Whether he’s snoozing peacefully in his bed or leaning into you for one of his signature cuddles, he makes every moment feel special.
He’s not loud in his love, but his affection runs deep, and the way he looks at you with those soulful eyes could melt even the iciest heart.
We’re all completely in love with this boy, and it’s impossible not to be. He’s the complete opposite of his famous namesake, he’s a total softie, through and through. Hannibal is truly one in a million, a loyal, gentle companion with a love so pure it could heal any heart.
Because this Hannibal doesn’t just eat hearts… he captures them, one cuddle at a time.
Hannibal has fitted right into life here at Clarks Farm, quickly becoming a cherished part of the family. He won us all over with his loving nature and gentle spirit, and he has become such a comforting presence to both staff and hounds alike.
He’s the kind of boy who quietly steals hearts one by one, and once he’s got you, there’s no going back. He means the world to us, and we often joke that he could charm anyone into loving greyhounds, no manipulation required!
He’s a regular star at our “Meet the Breed” appointments, where he shows families just how wonderful greyhounds truly are. With his soft eyes, kind nature, and calm confidence, he’s helped so many people fall head over paws for the breed.
And unlike his famous namesake, Hannibal isn’t interested in liver and fava beans he’s much more of a “treats and cuddles” kind of gentleman.
This special boy has shown everyone that love and kindness are his strongest traits. He’s incredibly social, both with people and other greyhounds, and he’s built wonderful friendships during his time here.
He’s had several female kennel mates, and no matter who he’s paired with, Hannibal gets along effortlessly. He has such calm, grounding energy that other hounds seem to be drawn to him it’s like he weaves a quiet spell of comfort wherever he goes.
There isn’t a single person or dog who has met him and not fallen completely in love. This gentle soul would be more than happy to share his forever home with another greyhound or two, as he clearly loves having company and takes great comfort in the presence of other hounds.
When he’s had kennel friends, he’s been happiest, and when alone, he can sometimes seem a little lost, as though his pack is missing. For that reason, we’d love to see him join a home with another hound companion to help him feel at ease.
That said, in the right home, with loving and patient humans, we know he could also thrive as the only dog, soaking up every cuddle and becoming the centre of his family’s world.
Hannibal is a true people dog at heart. He’d happily live alongside older, dog-savvy children, teenagers, or adults, as his gentle and friendly nature makes him a lovely fit for family life. We can picture him curling up on the sofa while the children or resting his head in someone’s lap after a day of adventures.
His calm and adaptable nature also makes him just as suited to a quieter, adult-only home, where he can enjoy a peaceful retirement filled with love, walks, and sofa snoozes. Wherever he lands, he’ll settle beautifully all he needs is a little love, a comfy bed, and humans who appreciate his sweet and sensitive soul.
Now, let’s talk about Hannibal’s dog tests. As much as we adore him, we can safely say he didn’t quite silence the lambs! On his first test, he struggled a little, becoming vocal and focused on Blossom, our test dog.
We gave him plenty of reassurance and space, and he began to relax once we worked at a safe distance. We decided to stop before it became overwhelming, wanting to keep his experiences positive.
After giving him more time to settle, we retested him and saw improvement. He started off a little fixated, but with gentle handling and patience, he relaxed and managed to walk alongside Blossom at a comfortable distance.
When she moved closer, he found it trickier, but we could tell it came from confusion, not aggression. We’re confident that with time, consistency, and understanding, Hannibal will continue to improve around other breeds. What he needs most is a home that can give him the patience, reassurance, and training to help him feel more confident in those moments.
Hannibal truly is everything you could wish for in a greyhound. He has the kindest heart, the gentlest soul, and a gift for making people feel loved and safe. He’ll bring joy, warmth, and endless affection to his forever family, one soft cuddle at a time.
This beautiful boy has come so far already, and he’s ready for the next chapter in his story a chapter filled with love, peace, and belonging.
Whoever welcomes Hannibal home won’t just be adopting a greyhound, they’ll be gaining a best friend for life.
Just don’t be surprised when he steals your heart… and you realise he’s been planning it all along. After all, this Hannibal only kills with kindness
