Cadbury sadly found himself returned into our care as, once he began properly settling, it became clear that the home was not quite the right fit for him. His humans absolutely adored him, and this decision was made purely out of love so that Cadbury could find a forever home where he feels fully comfortable, relaxed, and completely at ease. Thankfully, this gorgeous chocolate boy already has experience of home life, so we know he will settle back into a home environment like he never left.
He has also returned to kennel life like an absolute dream, slipping straight back into our routine with that classic Cadbury calmness and sweet nature we all know and love. Nothing about coming back has dimmed his soft sparkle, and he has handled every change with the same laid back, easy-going attitude that makes him such a special boy.
When Cadbury was with us previously, he attended many of our events, and he recently joined us at another one too. As expected, he was an absolute dream out and about. This boy is so social with both humans and dogs, big and small, yet all he truly wanted was a comfy spot for a little snooze and some loving fuss. In true Cadbury fashion, he ended up having a three hour nap at the event while people completely fell head over paws for him one by one. He soaked up all the cuddles and affection like the sweetest little chocolate treat, showing everyone exactly what greyhounds are really like and why they make such incredible pets.
He has always been one of our firm favourites at events because his loving heart and chilled out personality make him impossible not to adore. No matter how many different people, dogs, sounds, or situations he encounters, Cadbury takes it all in his stride every single time. Cadbury is an incredibly social boy, both with us humans and all of his fellow hounds. He is one of those rare dogs who genuinely gets along with absolutely everyone he meets. Cadbury has that wonderfully soft and adaptable personality where he is happy sharing with male or female hounds alike. Because he is so kind, relaxed, and easy-going, he is never fussed about who he shares his space with. He would be more than happy living with another greyhound in his forever home, whether male or female, as we know how much comfort and enjoyment he gets from being around his greyhound friends.
That said, Cadbury is also very content in his own company as long as he has his humans nearby. He is incredibly people-motivated and absolutely loves having our full attention, soaking up every cuddle and moment of affection like it is the greatest treat in the world. Because of this, we know he would also thrive as the only hound in the home, happily becoming the centre of his humans’ world and enjoying all the love for himself. Cadbury truly has that perfect balance where he is social and loving with other dogs but equally adores quiet companionship with his people.
Cadbury loves humans of all ages, but given that he found life a little difficult around younger children in his previous home, we feel he would be happiest in a home with mature children who understand his calm and gentle nature. He really enjoys a more chilled out and peaceful lifestyle, so an adult-only home or one with teenagers would suit him beautifully too. As long as the people around him are understanding, calm, and kind, Cadbury will flourish and happily become part of the family. He is such a soft and sensitive soul who simply wants comfort, love, and somewhere safe to rest his big chocolatey heart.
During his dog test, Cadbury was very excited to see Blossom and came on a little strong at first, but as the walk continued he quickly settled down and became very happy walking calmly beside her and sharing her space. Seeing him recently at the event surrounded by so many different dogs was honestly such a lovely sight, because he was completely unbothered, relaxed, and wonderfully chilled out the whole time. It really showed us how settled and content he feels out in the world away from the kennel environment, and how beautifully he can adapt when given time and reassurance.
Cadbury truly is one of a kind. With his gentle nature, loving heart, and sweet chocolate charm, he has a way of wrapping everyone around his paw without even trying. He is the sort of soul who brings nothing but warmth, comfort, loyalty, and happiness into the lives of those lucky enough to know him.
Cadbury deserves a forever home where he can finally relax completely, stretch out on his sofa, and spend his days surrounded by love, kindness, and comfort.
