He will not be able to race up and down stairs, though he can live in a house with stairs as long as he does not have access to them unless carefully supported. His walks will need to be slow and sniffy rather than long and busy, making him perfect for someone who enjoys a relaxed pace of life. He is very likely to develop arthritis in that leg, so supplements and physio will be a huge help for him as the years go on.
This injury does not hold Blitzen back in himself at all. Honestly, when I am with him, I often forget it is even there because he is so comfortable, content, and full of quiet joy. But he does need understanding humans who will respect his limits and keep his world safe.
Being a black boy with an injury sadly means he could be overlooked, but he truly does not deserve to wait. Blitzen is exceptional, gentle, and overflowing with love, and something from his racing days should never stop him from finding his forever home. During his dog test, Blitzen was far more interested in sniffing and having a good wee than paying attention to Blossom. When he did finally decide to say hello, he was an absolute star. Calm, polite, and gentlemanly, he showed lovely manners and a relaxed attitude, as if to say there was no rush at all.
Blossom adored him, which tells me everything I need to know. With sensible introductions, he also has the potential to live alongside other calm and caring breeds. Blitzen truly is a special boy, sensitive, steady, and full of love, and he will make the perfect addition to a peaceful and loving home.
